The Motor Image Subaru pair of Cody Crocker and co-driver Ben Atkinson consolidated their day one effort to score a comfortable win over their Asia-Pacific competitors in the Rally of Canberra today, taking victory by 2min51.6sec.

In second place was another Australian pairing of Dean Herridge and Chris Murphy in their Cusco Racing Subaru, who scored sufficient points to take the lead in the A-P standings after two rallies completed in the series.

Third place went to the second Cusco Racing entry of Japan's Hiroshi Yanagisawa and Yoshimasa Nakahara.

It was an eventful second day to the rally in which challengers such British rally champion Guy Wilks, making his Australian debut in the Honda Civic Type R, and Eli Evans, in his Subaru Impreza, were both forced out on the opening stage today.

Japan's Katsu Taguchi, who had restarted his Lancer on day two under SUPERrally rules, pushed Crocker hard all day in the search for bonus points but in the end, Crocker took the day's honours over his Mitsubishi rival by just 0.4sec.

The winner of the National Rally of Canberra was a determined Simon Evans, who produced a stunning drive to claw back the time he had lost on day one when he had struck a kangaroo. His Toyota team-mate Neal Bates was second, and Darren Windus (Subaru), third.
